Issue
Cyclists often use Lawrence Road for recreation and as a connection to the Middlesex Fells. The road too serves as a major throughway for bike commuters on their way to work and / or school. They are often confronted with high speed morning traffic while exiting driveways and intersections connected to Lawrence Rd. Traffic often doesn't pause for pedestrians or cyclists waiting to cross at both designated cross walks or opposite driveways and perpendicular streets. Residents have witnessed numerous incidents with aggressive and speeding vehicles coming dangerously close to major accidents.
Status
Lawrence Road has a single "Bicycles May Use Full Lane" sign posted outside Lawrence Memorial Hospital (See Image A) on Lawrence Rd heading west. Lawrence Road also includes painted bicycle icons in the middle of road, in both directions, near the top of the hill outside the Hospital. (See Image B)
Proposal
Residents would like to see the following improvements.
Place "Slow" triangle shaped road signs, similar to road construction sites, tripod standing temporary signage, near the Lincoln / Lawrence intersection headed east, and another headed west nearer Summit / Lawrence similar to those seen here this: https://www.trafficsign.com/products/8380/slow-sign
Repaint bicycle icon markings at existing sites outside Lawrence Memorial Hospital and add at least one additional location close to the Damon Road intersection and further west down Lawrence Road near the Winthrop St intersection.
